Ok this is a long post but stay with me it’s worth the read I promise!
Many of you will know that we’ve just started doing ‘extreme treasure hunts’ at KA. It’s where a group or a couple of people get together and pray and ask God for a specific location, name, condition, description of a person and go out and try to find them and pray for them.
Tabo Huntley and I have done a few of these together and bombed out badly. We even had one time where it was 3 christians that we located all with injuries but none of them would let us pray.
Anyhow, today we went out again. Everything seemed normal! I believed we were directed to a a red postbox and location outside the library. I also had girl with blonde hair, deafness and gold chain. Tabo had spine injury, Harpur centre, basketball (?), yellow coat and baseball cap!!
We walked down to the library area and saw a red postbox (I didn’t even know there was one in the town centre). We then saw a group of 15 teenagers and amoungst them a teen with a yellow jacket wearing a baseball cap. I was dreading going over to this group knowing we were certainly going to get ridiculed but Tabo insisted that it was a good idea, so we did. We approached the teen (around 14 years old I guess) and said ‘hey we’re on this treasure hunt and we have someone matching your description. Do you have a spine injury? Are you deaf at all?’ The guy denied it and was obviously embarrassed. We told them that we were Christians and one other guy began to make a bit of fun and said he was a pagan. He looked at our list and then said. Hey I’ve got a spine injury – I have 3 vertebrae fused in my coccyx. I had to stop playing basketball. We convinced him to let us pray. So with everyone gathered around we prayed. And he was totally healed! He began swearing and did the splits and touched his toes and laid on the floor stretching his back the wrong way. He’s telling everyone he just got healed and it clearly had an impact on the group!
We then got to pray for another girl and she was healed (I can’t remember of what now – seriously it was all happening so fast!) Then a guy Rob came up to Tabo and asked him to pray with him. Tabo grabbed his hand and the guy just began weeping and weeping ‘oh my gosh it’s God’ he kept saying. This guy was just blown away by the presence of God. He said to me and others ‘this is what Christianity should be like’. He became our biggest advocate, drawing more and more over and going around one by one telling his story. I gave him the gospel but he wasn’t quite ready to give his life to Christ – he was so blown away he didn’t know what to do with himself!
Then we prayed for a girl called who had some nasty stuff happen when she was younger. She had said earlier that she was a pagan but by the end of the prayer time she was weeping and she was the one who then went out and brought other friends over who were on the other side of the square telling them ‘I just met with God’
Then we had a girl come up to us with a with fractured arm. I asked her why it wasn’t in a cast and she said she had a sling but wasn’t wearing it (not cool) and was going in for the cast on Monday. She showed us very limited movement. By this time we had a crowd of 20 or so teenagers gathered around watching this one – they all seemed to know about her. We prayed and she was totally healed – full mobility and no pain. At this point they were all swearing and some were crying. They kept asking us how we were doing it and we kept on talking about Jesus.
At this point I shouted out ‘if anyone wants to get healed come here right now – God is on the move’. Then we were introduced to a deaf blonde girl with a gold chain. Jesus – I was sure she was going to get healed but sadly she didn’t right then.
We then had a guy come up with 3 torn ligaments in his shoulder – he was totally healed and then a girl with severe astigmatism was healed and also her short sightedness vastly improved. She could read a sign clearly across the square withour glasses – a feat she claimed was impossible before. Then a guy with arthritis in his fingers (generational – both parents had it) and I prayed for him and all the pain left. Meanwhile Tabo had a queue of people that he was prophesying over and several met God powerfully for emotional healing.
At this point I gathered them all together and gave them the gospel. We kept on telling them that Jesus was after them and proving to them that he was alive and interested in their lives.
Finally we prayed for a girl with repeated migraines – she was having one as we prayed and it left instantly. Then a girl with a knee injury which was improved.
The whole thing took about two hours. It was the most incredible thing I have ever witnessed. Many of the teens said they now had to believe in God and are going to come to church. We also discovered two backsliden Christians who were impacted. One girl took my number as she wants me to come and pray for her father who has two months to live in Addenbrooks hospital.
This evening I called one of our prophetic guys who had texted me with a word right in the middle of the afternoon. He said that at lunch time the presence of God hit him so strongly he was compelled to take the afternoon off work and pray (unplanned). He went to the park and prayed. I asked him what time – 3pm to 5pm. The exact two hours that we were out on the streets.
We serve a mighty God who is moving in extraordinary ways that are going to become ordinary!!

This is awesome stuff – so encouraging!
We’ve been trying extreme treasure hunts with some success (and some failure) – hearing of your experience prompts us to keep going.

Mike
